Circle – Edinburgh – 30 November

At a Godly Play Circle, we gather together with cake and warm drinks to catch up with fellow storytellers and then have a story and wondering session. This month we are looking at a story written in the style of Godly Play about St Andrew as we are meeting on St Andrew's Day. All are welcome, whether you have been trained in Godly Play or not. Storyteller and Door Person Accredited Training – Duddingston – 21st-23rd March 2025

Storyteller and Door Person Accredited Training – Duddingston – 21st-23rd March 2025

This is a weekend, non-residential course. It starts at 1pm on Friday 21st March and finishes at 5pm on Sunday 23rd March. The venue is the Godly Play Scotland Centre in Duddingston Kirk Manse. The Godly Play Storyteller and Door Person Accredited Training is designed to give people a better understanding of both the theory and practice of Godly Play. The course explores each of the main types of story – sacred, parables and liturgy.  We concentrate on the core stories that people usually tell at the beginning of their Godly Play journey.  Alongside the stories and wondering, are workshops that explore the theology and theory behind Godly Play. There is a mixture of trainer led and participant storytelling sessions - so you have the opportunity to tell a story as part of the course and see and wonder about 14 other stories. Godly Play Storyteller and Door Person training courses fit a lot in, so the days are long. This is especially true of...

The Story of Eric Liddell

The Story of Eric Liddell

To celebrate 100 years since Eric Liddell's historic Gold Medal win, the Eric Liddell Community launched the Eric Liddell 100 project, and we have written a new story - in the style of Godly Play - as part of this project. In 1924 Eric refused to compete in his favoured 100m race at the Paris Olympic Games, because the qualifying heats were being run on a Sunday. Eric could not run on a Sunday. Sunday is God's day - Sabbath. Instead, he said that he could run in the 400m, a distance that he hadn't run before. No one expected him to even reach the finals, let alone win the gold medal or set a new world record. He did both. We have some sets of the storytelling objects you can borrow, too. They will be in the lending collections in Edinburgh, Inverness and St Andrew's soon. You can find out more here ......
