The Story of Saint Kentigern, who was also known as Mungo

The city of Glasgow is celebrating it's 850th birthday this year. But Glasgow's roots go back even farther than it becoming a Burgh in 1175.  In the late 6th Century, a Christian community began to gather around the monastic cell build for St Mungo by King Rhiderch Hael.  Mungo called them his 'dear family' - clas-gu - and so the city of Glasgow, with Mungo and his mother as patron saints, was born. To help us celebrate, we have a story in the style of Godly Play for Saint Mungo, who is also know as Saint Kentigern. You can find the story here ......

Godly Play Circles are a chance to catch up with other Godly Players, maybe to borrow some story materials, eat some cake, and definitely listen to and wonder about a story together. Our story for this circle will be from the collection of German Gott im Spiel Jesus stories, which have been written in the style of Godly Play and translated by Godly Play Scotland. There is plenty of time for questions, to look at the resources and to wonder about the different types of Godly Play stories. This Discovery Day will be held at the Godly Play Scotland centre, in the basement of Duddingston Kirk's Manse*, Edinburgh. The day starts at 10am and will finish by 4pm. Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided, but please bring your own lunch.
