The Story of Saint Kentigern, who was also known as Mungo

The city of Glasgow is celebrating it's 850th birthday this year. But Glasgow's roots go back even farther than it becoming a Burgh in 1175.  In the late 6th Century, a Christian community began to gather around the monastic cell build for St Mungo by King Rhiderch Hael.  Mungo called them his 'dear family' - clas-gu - and so the city of Glasgow, with Mungo and his mother as patron saints, was born. To help us celebrate, we have a story in the style of Godly Play for Saint Mungo, who is also know as Saint Kentigern. You can find the story here ......

This Discovery Day will be held at the Godly Play Scotland centre, in the basement of Duddingston Kirk's Manse*, Edinburgh. The day starts at 10am and will finish by 4pm. Our 2025 Book Group is reading and exploring Dr Rebecca Nye's Children’s Spirituality: What it is and Why it Matters. This Book Group is hosted by Michelle and Jessica. Each week we will read and discuss a chapter (or maybe two). Our Book Group is on Zoom. Over six weeks, starting on Wednesday 30 April. We meet between 8pm and 9pm.
