The city of Glasgow is celebrating it’s 850th birthday this year. But Glasgow’s roots go back even farther than it becoming a Burgh in 1175.
In the late 6th Century, a Christian community began to gather around the monastic cell build for St Mungo by King Rhiderch Hael.
Mungo called them his ‘dear family’ – clas-gu – and so the city of Glasgow, with Mungo and his mother as patron saints, was born.
To help us celebrate, we have a story in the style of Godly Play for Saint Mungo, who is also know as Saint Kentigern.
